IOWA TUITION GRANT
The Iowa Tuition Grant is a rock star at Iowa private colleges and universities. The State Legislature established the Iowa Tuition Grant program in 1969 to give more students the option of attending Iowa independent colleges and universities.
The Iowa Tuition Grant is based on family financial need, with priority given to the neediest applicants. Each qualifying, full-time, undergraduate student gets $3,875 per year for up to four years. Part-time students can qualify for lesser amounts.
You can apply for an Iowa Tuition Grant if you are:
- a resident of Iowa (as defined by the State Board of Regents), and
- a United States citizen or national, or
- a permanent resident of the United States, and
- currently enrolled or planning to enroll at least part-time (3 hours minimum) in an undergraduate degree program at an eligible Iowa school.
Applying:
To be considered for an Iowa Tuition Grant and virtually any other kind of need-based financial aid, you must submit a U.S. Department of Education Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form as early as possible after January 1. Your guidance counselor or any of our schools' financial aid counselors can help you fill out the forms.
You must list an eligible independent college or university, business school, or nursing school in the appropriate section on the original application for the Iowa Tuition Grant. For priority consideration, your completed FAFSA application must be mailed to the U.S. Department of Education in time to reach the state processing center by July 1.
The Iowa College Student Aid Commission has a ton more info on available financial aid. Let our schools' financial aid people help. They get way into this kind of stuff.
