ABOUT THE IAICU

This site is brought to you by the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. IAICU speaks for, defends, cheerleads and zealously promotes 29 member institutions ranging in enrollment from 500 to 6,000 students. These liberal arts-based, church- and faith-related colleges and comprehensive universities have created a rich heritage of independent higher education that started seven years before Iowa became a state.

Since 1839, the colleges and universities of IAICU have established an unparalleled record of excellence in teaching and nurturing students, advancing knowledge and serving their communities and the world.

Iowa’s independent colleges and universities are united in a commitment to develop caring and informed students into citizens who think critically, communicate well and adapt creatively to change in today's global society.

Also known as private colleges and universities, IAICU member campuses are located in 20 communities across Iowa and are complemented by an additional 34 off-campus and satellite programs.
